This is photo I am very proud of. I won the Barry Island Butlin’s ‘Picture Of Health’ competition in July 1977. Since I won this award things have gone downhill. A week after the event I caught the German measles!!

The reason I won the competition is because I did a good Tarzan impersonation. I used to watch a lot of Tarzan films at the time and I was a big Johnny Weissmuller fan.

My success was reported in the South Wales Guardian newspaper. The story made the front page.
